"Specializing in Motor Vehicle Injuries and Chronic Pain"

Specialized treatment for car accidents and chronic pain

If you are suffering from chronic pain or a recent sprain this service is for you!

Our mission is to excel in the treatment of soft tissue pain and discomfort with hands on therapy. We walk each patient through what we are doing and why we are doing it as it is ultimately our goal to teach you to understand and use your body more efficiently so that you will not require continued treatment. We don't believe that the answers to chronic pain lie in the "newest" or "most advanced" techniques or tools, but rather in the clinical reasoning and understanding of the systems of the body we are treating. We believe that chronic pain is a puzzle requiring thought and problem solving, so our focus is on mastery of understanding rather than mastery of many techniques.

Walk me through a session:

During your initial consultation we will ask you some questions needed to help us evaluate the cause of your discomfort. Some questions you may be asked are "Can you recall a specific event that triggered your onset of pain?" or "are there any movements or activities that make your pain better or worse?

Following the question and answer portion of your intake we will take you through a series of movements, actions, and range of motion assessments to determine which structures are involved in your discomfort and which ones are most likely to be the direct cause of your pain. During this process we will also try and gently recreate your pain in a specific way that tells us the specific source of your pain.

Once we have determined the most likely reasons for your discomfort treatment can begin. All treatment is done fully clothed in a private room in shorts and either a tank top or sports bra on top of a massage table. The table is heated and padded to make sure that you stay warm and comfortable during your session. During the course of your treatment you may be asked to repeat the movements you previously found painful to evaluate our success and change our approach if necessary. Eliminating chronic pain is a learning process and determining what did not change the pain is just as important as determining what did, since no two people are exactly alike no two treatments can be exactly the same either.

During follow up sessions the initial intake portion will be shorter with more time for hands on treatment. While some issues may require a more detailed intake before the hands on portion can begin the initial intake usually takes 15-20 minutes whereas the follow up intakes range from 2-5 minutes.
